C-section Scar treatment info: If you’ve had a Caesarean (commonly known as a C-section), you may notice that your scar feels uncomfortable or unfamiliar. Many women describe a pulling or tight sensation around their scar, which can sometimes lead to discomfort elsewhere in the body, such as the chest, back or pelvic floor. Having a C-section takes a huge toll on your body. We know and understand, from a professional point of view, that a C-section scar can impact you emotionally as well as physically – especially when the scar is red, raised and feels angry or unsettled. Scar massage can help with: Tightness or pulling around the scar Discomfort in the tummy, lower back or pelvic area Numbness, tingling or altered sensation Itchiness or sensitivity as the scar heals Restricted movement or stiffness A scar that feels hard, raised or uncomfortable Feeling disconnected from your body after birth C-Section first appointment Scar massage after a C-section isn’t about “fixing” your body. It’s about supporting healing, restoring movement and helping your scar feel more comfortable over time. Your first appointment is a 60-minute consultation, assessment and treatment: designed to feel unhurried and supportive. You may bring your baby with you to your appointment if this is easier. Or you may wish to have 60mins to yourself! We’ll take time to listen to your birth experience and understand how your scar feels, both physically and emotionally and then plan your treatment with you. We are with you every step of the way, for complete scar healing and recovery. At your first appointment, a history of your pregnancy and post-natal journey will be undertaken, as well as a full medical history. Where appropriate, this may involve: Full history of your pregnancy, birth and how you feel now. A scar assessment. Posture and movement checks. A tummy check (for abdominal separation called Diastasis Recti). Scar Massage. Scar Rehab plan and follow-on aftercare advice. Treatment is always gentle and tailored to you.
